Lancair Updates Progress Of Evolution Turboprop

Preparing New Single For Oshkosh

Following its inaugural cross-country flight from Redmond, OR to Lakeland, FL in April, Lancair's brand new Evolution turboprop is now being prepared for its debut at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2008.

The Evolution's flight characteristics have been independently evaluated utilizing CFR 14 Part 23 procedures for Stall; Controllability and Maneuverability; Trim; Reference Landing Approach Speed; Longitudinal Control; Elevator Control Force in Maneuvers; Static Longitudinal Stability; Static Directional and Lateral Stability; Dynamic Stability; Vibration and Buffeting; and Flight Controls.

Though not an FAA conforming aircraft, the Evolution has passed these tests with flying colors, according to Lancair.

Additionally, preliminary tests to validate the 6 psi pressurization system have been conducted. Tests conducted up to 10.5 psi have been completed. Further testing on the pressure vessel and door systems will be conducted later this year up to 12 psi. This will allow for a safety factor of 2 on the pressurization system.

With the completion of this testing regimen, production of kits has begun and the first delivery is scheduled for July.

At AirVenture Oshkosh 2008, the Evolution will be available for close inspection at the Lancair exhibit, and people will be able to see it fly daily. Demonstration flights will also be available.
