Van’s Pushes its First High-Wing Into Production to Kick Off AirVenture

Wing Kits for the RV-15 Go Live, Deliveries Expected This Year

Experimental icon Van’s Aircraft has taken a leap with its highly anticipated high-wing design, the RV-15, by launching the first set of kits to the public. The freshly in-production aircraft is taking center stage at the manufacturer’s EAA Oshkosh AirVenture display, found at Booth 605 in the homebuilt section.

Van’s is a well-established name in the homebuilt community, with over 11,000 aircraft flying worldwide. However, the RV-15 will be the first time it has strayed from the classic low-wing look. It features a Lycoming IO-390 EXP-119 powerplant swinging an 80-inch composite Hartzell Trailblazer propeller. The result is a backcountry-capable, high-performance, two-seater aircraft with a cruise speed of 140 kts.

The design was first introduced at the 2022 EAA Oshkosh Airventure, hoping to make it to market in mid to late 2023. Followers got some new updates at the 2024 airshow, including a delayed anticipated production date of late 2025, then learned in March that Van’s had made significant progress in finalizing the RV-15’s design.

Now, Van’s has beaten its timeline by pushing the RV-15 into production on the first morning of this year’s EAA Oshkosh AirVenture event. Wing kits, which include pre-punched aluminum skins and structural components, are now live on the manufacturer’s website for an introductory price of $19,650.

The first round of deliveries for the RV-15 wing kits is expected before the year’s end. Tail kits will join the Van’s shop in December 2025, targeting deliveries in March 2026. Following this will be fuselage and firewall-forward kits in August 2026, then finish kits in November 2026. These should all make their way to customers before 2027. The total price for all five kits comes in at less than $85,000.

“The RV-15 is a game changer for the backcountry flying community and Van’s Aircraft,” said Van’s Aircraft CEO Mikael Via. “Our design engineers have worked tirelessly to create an airplane that takes Van’s idea of ‘Total Performance’ into the utility category.”

The new aircraft, along with several of Van’s customer favorites, is on display at Booth 604/605/618/618 in AirVenture’s Homebuilt Aircraft Display.
