Tennessee Man Jailed For Flying Without Ticket

Took Twin From Florida Keys To Tennessee

What do you imagine 50-year old Steven Allen Cate was doing flying a twin engine aircraft to Tennessee from the Florida Keys -- without a license?

We're not terribly sure at this point, but according to US District Judge Ronnie Greer, Cates gets three months in prison, a $2,500 fine, community service and -- oh, yeah -- he has to give up his $8,500 interest in the aforementioned airplane.

Federal authorities said Cates admitted flying the aircraft from Key West, FL, to Tennessee back in June. The flight was intercepted by the Immigrations and Customs Service and diverted to Tri-Cities Airport in Blountville, TN.
