First Boeing 777 Freighter Leaves Paint Hangar

Will Be Unveiled To Employees May 21

Adorned in its Boeing livery, the first new, factory-built 777 Freighter was moved from the planemaker's Everett, WA paint facility to Everett field this morning, bringing the airplane one step closer to its world debut.

Boeing will debut the 777 Freighter at employee celebration events May 21, in the Everett factory where the airplane is built on the same production lines as all other 777 models.

Launched in May 2005 with a five-plane order from Air France, the 777 Freighter is based on the 777-200LR Worldliner passenger airplane. Boeing expects the plane will be capable of flying 4,965 nautical miles with a full payload and market-preferred cargo load density, making it the world's longest-range freighter.

The new airplane will feature a maximum takeoff weight of 766,000 pounds, offering a revenue payload capability of 229,000 pounds. The 777 Freighter will be powered exclusively by the General Electric GE90-110B1L.

Boeing expects to deliver the first 777 Freighter to Air France in the fourth quarter of 2008. Eleven customers around the world have ordered 78 777 Freighters.
