"Our VFR traffic has somewhere between doubled and tripled from normal. That is a tremendous increase in workload for controllers. I don't believe anybody was really prepared for this. We have certain priorities that are set in our handbook. And our first instinct is going to be to stop and slow down the VFR traffic."

Source: Jim Davis, president of the Potomac branch of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association, regarding GA pilots who find the Washington-area ADIZ simply too much hassle. Many of those GA pilots are leaving the DC metro area or selling their aircraft outright, forcing some GA airports in Maryland to consider shutting down.
