Honda Digs Into the Data with ForeFlight

ForeFlight Runway Analysis Comes to Hondajet

Honda's work with ForeFlight has borne fruit for the clientele of both brands, with HondaJet operators now able to integrate accurate "Runway Analysis" into their everyday flights.

The tool " transforms the tedious task of calculating takeoff and landing performance into an integral and effortless part of any jet pilot’s preflight workflow. Built directly into ForeFlight Mobile, planning can be done well in advance of a pilot boarding the aircraft. Runway Analysis seamlessly incorporates relevant flight plan data – departure and destination airports, the planned route, forecast weather, fuel at takeoff and landing, weight and balance outputs based on passenger, payload, and fuel details, etc. – streamlining and automating the process. Pilots need only select their departure runway for ForeFlight to perform a sophisticated obstacle analysis, producing results in seconds and automatically re-running the calculation with any subsequent change to the flight plan."

Last May, Honda inked a license agreement to share data from their own flight testing regimes, greatly improving the quality and accuracy of the finished product - no skewed AFM page scans needed. That direct data feed "guaranteed the highest degree of accuracy from the beginning by avoiding potential errors associated with manual digitization, poor quality scans, print errors", and the like. Now, HondaJet operators can license Runway Analysis for use in their aircraft as a part of their ForeFlight subscription plan.

“We are excited to work with ForeFlight to create new values in business aviation,” said Honda Aircraft Company President & CEO Hideto Yamasaki. “Building on Honda’s longstanding approach of ‘Safety for Everyone’, Honda Aircraft Company will consistently put resources to evolve and set new industry standards for safety and operational excellence.”

“We are thrilled to be collaborating with Honda Aircraft Company to provide safer and more integrated flight planning solutions to our joint customers,” said Tim Schuetze, CEO of ForeFlight. “The team at Honda has gone above and beyond by providing digital aircraft performance data to help our engineers ensure the utmost quality and reliability of our Runway Analysis product. We look forward to continued collaboration to elevate the experience of HondaJet pilots everywhere.”
