Australian Carrier Adds Second Embraer 170

Airnorth Will Operate Plane Under Lease With JetScape

Embraer delivered an Embraer 170 jet this week to Australia's Darwin-based Airnorth, during a ceremony held at Embraer's headquarters in São José dos Campos, Brazil. The airline is the launch customer of the Embraer 170 in Australia, and is now adding this new aircraft to its fleet. The jet will be operated by Airnorth under a lease with Jetscape, Inc., and comes from Jetscape's firm orders.

"We are honored by the continued enthusiastic attitude of Airnorth toward our aircraft," said Mauro Kern, Embraer Executive Vice President, Airline Market. "The airline began using Embraer planes with the EMB 120 Brasilia turboprop, in 1996, and has been a loyal customer ever since. It is a great pleasure to now support the expansion of their operations with another Embraer 170."

The Embraer 170 delivered to Airnorth is configured with 76 seats in a single-class layout. The jet allows the airline to operate fully loaded direct services in any direction from Darwin, capital of the Northern Territory, to every Australian capital city, as well as Jakarta (Indonesia), Singapore, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Manila (Philippines), among other destinations, with an outstanding comfort level.

"Customer response to this aircraft, in every single market where we have operated it, has been overwhelming," said Airnorth's Chief Executive Officer, Michael Bridge. "The first aircraft has operated over 4,000 flights, since it was commissioned in August 2007."
