ALPA Congratulates New Senate Commerce Committee Leadership

Senators Cruz And Cantwell To Guide Aviation Policy

The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) released a statement congratulating the selection of Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA) as the Chair and Ranking Member, respectively, of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee.

The statement by Capt. Jason Ambrosi, President of ALPA:

“We congratulate Senators Cruz and Cantwell for once again being selected to lead this vital committee that shapes America's aviation policy, oversees the Federal Aviation Administration, and ensures the safety and efficiency of our nation's air transportation system.

“Aviation safety and the strength of our national air transportation system depend on robust congressional oversight and bipartisan cooperation. We look forward to working with both Senators to advance policies that enhance aviation safety, support our professional workforce, and maintain America's global leadership in commercial aviation.

“As always, ALPA stands ready to serve as a technical resource to the Committee as it addresses critical issues including emerging technologies and infrastructure modernization. Our 79,000 members remain committed to working constructively with Committee leadership to ensure the continued safety and efficiency of our national airspace.”

ALPA was founded in 1931 and is the world’s largest airline pilot union, representing over 79,000 pilots at 42 airlines in the U.S. and Canada.
