McDonald's Air & Sea Show to Unveil F-22 Raptor

Now In Its 11th Year, One Of The World's Largest Spectator Events

One of the world's largest spectator events, the McDonald's Air & Sea Show is set to celebrate its 11th anniversary April 30 May 1 in South Florida. Free to the public, this two-day extravaganza features top military and civilian air, sea and entertainment performances along four miles of beach. According to military and city estimates, the show draws millions of people each year.

This world-class event is part of the "McDonald's National Salute to Americas Heroes," and is the kickoff for National Military Appreciation Month observed each May. The National Salute also includes Fleet Week USA, presented by McDonald's, that brings Navy ships and thousands of sailors to Fort Lauderdale from April 25-29.

New this year:

  • Unveiling of the F-22 Raptor, the world's most advanced stealth fighter jet.
  • National championship series Offshore Super Boat International/American
  • PowerBoat Association race added to both days of show.

"Each year we take this event to new levels as we show thanks to our military and all of America's heroes, and 2005 is no exception," said show spokesman Elaine Fitzgerald. "Everyone who joins us for this National Salute to America's Heroes is in for an extra treat with the addition of a national championship series offshore powerboat race and the awesome unveiling of the F-22 Raptor."

The National Salute begins with Fleet Week USA, when the USS Saipan amphibious assault ship, five other Navy ships, an attack submarine and a US Coast Guard cutter arrive at Port Everglades traditionally one of the Navy's most popular liberty ports. The public is expected to be out in mass to greet sailors that evening for the All Hands on Deck Party.

Men and women in the military will be the guests of honor at many parties and special events that are open to the public during Fleet Week USA and the McDonald's Air & Sea Show.
