Pipistrel has signed an MOU with Eyre to There Aviation of Adelaide, Australia for the rights to manufacture the Pipistrel Alpha Electro in Australia.

Eyre to There would be the first Australian company to manufacture and electric aircraft. The company could build as many as 100 airplanes each year. Rogers believes that the Australian GA industry is ready to accept an electric aircraft as a flight trainer. Eyre to There plans to import 15 of the airplanes from Pipistrel for demonstration flights and training as it gears up its own production line. At the Aero in Friedrichshafen BRP-Rotax is presenting an anniversary edition for the 100th anniversary of the company. With the 100 year anniversary, BRP-Rotax will present a special designed anniversary model of the 912iS and 915iS which are available in a limited edition, with a special service package. Visitors are welcomed to scrutinize the engines at their exhibition area and receive information about the special features. A new ASTM International standard outlines minimum requirements for designing, manufacturing, and installing emergency parachute systems that help recover a small plane’s
airframe, potentially helping occupants survive, according to Jay Yeakle, a member of ASTM International’s general-aviation aircraft committee (F44). “Whole aircraft parachute recovery systems are an emerging safety device that is gaining use in general aviation,” says Yeakle. “The new standard provides design and certification requirements for any person or company to qualify these systems on GA aircraft.” All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
