UAL Pilot/WV Legislator Suspended For Political Statement

But It Was Pretty Extreme ... Said Hillary Clinton Should Be Hanged

A United Airlines pilot who also is a member of the West Virginia state legislature has been suspended from flying duties after calling ... he says in hyperbole ... for Hillary Clinton to be hanged.

Michael Folk (pictured) is a Republican member of the West Virginia House of Delegates. Multiple media outlets including Bloomberg and CNN report that Folk Tweeted that Clinton should be tried for treason and "hung on the mall in Washington, D.C." The tweet has been deleted from the social media service, and Folk said he was being "hyperbolic" in his message.

United has suspended Folk from flying duties pending an investigation. Democrats in the West Virginia house of delegates are calling for his resignation.

CNN reports that Folk has said he regrets the Tweet, but still believes Clinton should be tried for treason for her use of a private email server while Secretary of State. "I do think she should be tried and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," Folk told CNN over the weekend. But as for being hanged, he said, "No, my gosh. That was the hyperbole in the statement."
