'The Muses' Woman Of The Year 2014 Luncheon Honors SpaceX President

Gwynne Shotwell To Keynote Annual Fundraising Event

The Muses Woman of the Year honoree SpaceX President and COO Gwynne Shotwell will share her career insights and experiences with moderator Val Zavala, KCET Vice President of News and Public Affairs on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the California Club. The event begins at 10:30 am.

Ms. Shotwell (pictured) joined SpaceX as its seventh employee in 2002, soon after the company was founded. It currently has over 3,000 employees. Founded by Elon Musk, SpaceX is one of the most innovative companies in the country and the first private company in history to successfully deliver cargo both to and from the International Space Station. SpaceX designs, manufactures and launches the world's most advanced rockets and spacecraft with the goal of ultimately making it possible for people to live on other planets. Among Ms. Shotwell's many responsibilities are managing day-to-day operations as well as customer and strategic relations to support company growth.

The annual Woman of the Year event is the major fundraiser that allows The Muses to support youth education programs at the California Science Center. Each year this event honors a woman or women who have made outstanding contributions in the field of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
