Uzbekistan Airways Orders 22 Boeing 787 Dreamliners

Carrier’s Largest Boeing Order In Its History

Uzbekistan Airways, the Republic of Uzbekistan’s national airline, placed its largest-ever order from Boeing for 22 787 Dreamliners. The order consists of 14 firm orders for the 787-9 with options for eight additional aircraft, with deliveries slated to begin in 2031.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of the Republic of Uzbekistan commemorated the order with Boeing and Uzbekistan Airways leaders while attending the U.N. General Assembly this week in New York City.

In addition, the Uzbekistan Ministry of Transport and Boeing signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to explore ways to expand the country’s aviation landscape even further.

The Dreamliners will enable the airline to expand its international routes to include the U.S. and other long-haul destinations such as Central Asia, North America, Europe, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region.

At the same time, the order will upgrade the airline’s widebody fleet and help support nearly 35,000 jobs in the U.S. Uzbekistan Airways is the only carrier in Central Asia flying the long-haul 787 Dreamliners and has been very successful with them for a decade.

Shukhrat Khudaykulov, Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airways noted, “With this new contract, we are further strengthening both our airline’s and our nation’s position as a leading aviation hub in Central Asia, while providing our passengers with greater global connectivity.”

Brad McMullen, Senior Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing for Boeing said, “We value our nearly 30-year partnership with Uzbekistan Airways and will continue to support their growth strategy as they further connect the region and world,” while adding that the 787 Dreamliner will help the airline to expand into new markets.
