Duncan Aviation Gets AVANCE STC for Falcon 2000

High-Speed In-Flight Internet Comes to the Dassault

Duncan Aviation has obtained a Supplemental Type Certificate Gogo Business Aviation’s L3 Wi-Fi system for the Falcon 2000.

The upgrade is a great fit for those who demand constant, quick internet access even when they're airborne, with AVANCE L3's access to the Gogo Biz LTE network. The STC means that Falcon 2000 operators are no longer limited to the older, dated EV-DO system. Downtime is slated for 5 business days, since the older legacy ATG system must be replaced with an AVANCE L3 suite.

Existing ATG antennas can generally be reused for the new network, but 1000/2000/4000/5000/8000 equipment must be replaced since it cannot interface with the 5G networks to come. Gogo notes that those who are content with their EV-DO support today won't have forever to remain without upgrade - the EV-DO network will be deprecated in 2026, with Gogo moving entirely to a blend of LTE ("4g" in most common parlance) and 5G access. Recently, the Independent Falcon Aircraft Operators Association estimated that more than 500 of the 2,000 Falcons in service are equipped with AVANCE L5.

Duncan points to particular savings on offer from Gogo, like a $50,000 rebate for an AVANCE L5 system, a $25,000 rebate for an AVANCE L3 MAX or PLUS system, or a $100,000 combined rebate for a whole-hog AVANCE L5+Gogo 5G system.
