Orlando, FL Flight School Closes Facing Heavy Debt Load

Trax Air Considering Surrendering Its Pilot School Certificate

A day after instructors walked off the job saying they had not been paid, Trax Air flight school based at the Orlando (FL) Executive Airport, notified the FAA they were closing. A spokeswoman also said the school was considering surrendering its pilot school certificated.

But founder Bryan Brewer said that the company was not giving up its certificate, which allows the school to operate. He said a student graduated in late October, according to a report in the Orlando Sentinel.

The schools offices have been empty during business hours over several recent days, according to the report. About a half-dozen international students were at the school last Wednesday with Brewer trying to get refunds on their tuition ... as much as $10,000 in some cases. The were also concerned about their student visas, according to the report.

SheltAir, which rents hangar and office space to Trax Air, said the school owes about $36,000  in back rent. It also owes some $220,000 to companies and individuals who lease planes to the school.
