Details Of TFR Released
The NBAA has confirmed that it will be President Obama campaigning in Orlando on Monday, prompting a VIP TFR to be put in place just as many are arriving for the associations' annual meeting and convention.
The the following impacts on Orlando-area aviation traffic are anticipated as a result of a visit Monday, Oct. 29, 2012:
For Orlando Executive Airport (KORL):
- A Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) will be in place, under which all operations will be prohibited between 1055 – 1500 EDT.
For Orlando International Airport (KMCO):
- Business aviation operations will be allowed to land on the west runway complex, if the airport is on a north flow (arrivals coming from the south).
- If winds dictate a south flow for MCO (arrivals coming from the north), then business aviation flights may need to divert to Sanford International Airport (SFB) or Kissimmee Airport (ISM) if air traffic control is not able to accommodate non-standard arrivals operating to the RWY 18R/L.
- All operations will be suspended during Air Force One arrival and departure.
For Sanford International Airport (KSFB):
- There will be no anticipated restrictions to any operations.
For Kissimmee Airport (KISM):
- There will be no anticipated restrictions for arriving RWY 33 or departing RWY 15.
Operators desiring to land at Orlando Executive (ORL) must alter arrival times to before 1055 or after 1500 EDT, or be prepared to be held en route or diverted. In addition, as always, Presidential TFRs are subject to starting earlier or ending later than at currently scheduled times.
NBAA recommends that an operator needing to arrive in Orlando while the TFR is in place plan to utilize either Sanford International (SFB), Kissimmee (ISM), or Orlando International (MCO) airports.
NBAA will continue to stay in close touch with government agencies to ensure that the industry has up-to-the-minute information. As always, NBAA Members and other operators should check NOTAMS before operating.
