Oshkosh Rumors: New Sport Aviation Fly-In TBA

Will Stability Finally Come To Winter Sport Aviation Fly-ins?

With the demise of the once well-regarded fly-ins at Sebring and DeLand, many sport aviation fans and companies have abhorred the vacuum that has been created in their absence.

While Sun ‘n Fun and Oshkosh provide a lot of opportunities to see the best and brightest from among the sport aviation industry’s finest offerings, those immense shows provide less of an opportunity for close inspection, demo flights, and special attention for that unique and valuable segment of the aviation world.

The winter fly-ins, Sebring in January, and DeLand in November provided some excellent venues for sport aviation to shine... but the lack of location support, management issues, and other concerns have seen both these events slide into obscurity.

Now... There is hope.

There are strong indications that a new sport aviation event, still wavering between either a November or January timeframe (until all the organizing parties finish with industry surveys) will be announced during Oshkosh’s opening day... and one stunning detail bodes REALLY well for its potential for success. The event is being organized to be conducted at none other than Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Lakeland, FL... which is otherwise the home of the Sun ‘n Fun Aerospace Expo... though SnF is not the primary organizer of the event.

Initial plans for the event are quite interesting... with an emphasis on better in-door display availability as well as augmenting vendor needs to conduct demo rides and the like. The SnF facility is one of the finest in the nation, so we have our hopes up -- way up -- for this project.

More details to come... In less than two weeks. The details are expected to be discussed at a press conference early Monday morning on the opening day of Oshkosh... and we'll report on EVERYTHING.

ANN E-I-C Note: If you're heading to Oshkosh and ready to make any special announcements as a vendor or display participant... be sure to let us know in advance if you have NEWS to impart. We'll pass it all along ASAP.
