“(It's) a bald-faced lie. Maybe 130, but not 13. We had a couple of them today, as a matter of fact. They know there’s a problem."

Source: Mike Egan, Vice President, Chicago TRACON Controllers' Union, on an FAA statement that only 13 incidents of aircraft "ghosts" have shown up on approach radar in recent weeks. The ghost images have, in some cases, forced controllers to issue emergency safety navigation commands to pilots they believe to suddenly be in harms way. The FAA not only says the images in question are fewer than controllers report. Administration officials are going forward with a test program to vastly increase the amount of traffic coming to and going from O'Hare.
