Montaer Teases 'Game-Changer' 4-Seater

Changes in Regs Poised to Open Up a New World in Light Aircraft

As MOSAIC looms large in buyers’ minds, Montaer has started laying the groundwork for a release this year, hinting that an improved MC-04 is on the way.

So far, the only thing they’ve given audiences is some rough specs and features, a pic or two, along with a shot of a handsome panel, but from what we’ve seen of the MC-04 it’s got a lot of promise for everyday pilots looking for a one-size-fits-all family plane. Even better, Montaer says the upcoming aircraft will be partially assembled in the USA. That’s a change of pace for the Brazilian brand, with an announcement to move some aircraft assembly, support, and training operations stateside. That should help to make the MC-04 an even more attractive contender in the USDM, when paired with its solid featureset. Who knows–in the current climate ‘U.S.-Made’ may just end up providing a pricing edge against aircraft from the EU or China.

The MC-04 in its current trim combines a Rotax 916iS (160 turbocharged horsepower) with a roomy cabin, high-wing design, adjustable prop, tricycle gear, and metallic construction. Even with a 4130 steel fuselage, the MC-04 pulls off a climb of 1,300 fpm, range of 800+ nm, and a cruise of 132 knots – all while sipping fuel at typical Rotax values.

Montaer has been eagerly awaiting the MOSAIC change, and this reshuffling of rules and limitations for the ‘little guy’ has been a long time coming. In the end, aircraft at the most affordable rung of the price ladder will be true family haulers and cross-country tourers, something we’ve sorely missed with so many lightweight two-seaters. Sure, they’re fun, but it’s hard to plan a couple’s getaway with a maximum baggage shelf of 25 pounds! The Montaer will offer few complaints when loading it up, with a 4-seat configuration and total payload just under 1,200 pounds.

“The MC-04 is a game-changer for American pilots, combining the capacity of a four-seater with the reliability and performance they demand,” says Bruno de Oliveira, Montaer’s founder. “By transferring part of our assembly, support, and training to the U.S., we’re deepening our commitment to delivering an aircraft that redefines light aviation with safety and consistency.”
