Czech eVTOL Project Begins Crowdfunding

Zuri Successfully Completes Hover Tests

Zuri, another eVTOL advanced air mobility contender, completed its first functional flight test in Prague, Czech Republic. The aircraft successfully lifted off and hovered in place in an early test of its flight systems and capabilities.

The Zuri carries a mix of traits of both fixed-wing and multirotor aircraft, combining a propeller and aerodynamic wing stability for efficient, reliable cruise flight, with 8 rotors laid out on underwing pylons for short takeoff and vertical lift capability. Driven by a bank of internal batteries, the aircraft has seating for 4, including pilot. Initial design began in 2017, with a full size proof-of-concept demonstrator completed in less than a year. An initial investment from Pale Fire Capital secured a healthy start for the enterprise, enabling the company to expand its knowledge base and expertise. 2021 has seen a number of successes for the company, with their large-scale demonstrator successfully taking off and hovering. That test aircraft consisted of a cabin section, a 36-foot wingspan, and the VTOL propulsion system, weighing 1100 pounds. In October, Zuri saw another group of investors bring additional support for the project, netting over €2.4 million across all sources.

Zuri has announced their interest in an equity crowdfunding round to complement its investors. CEO and founder, Michal Illich, believes the company offers a unique opportunity for those looking to get into the advanced air mobility market still currently in its nascent stages. Given the rampant successes of some sustainable, electric automotive projects, a considerable amount of interest has arisen in those wanting to get in on the ground floor. "We are considering launching an equity crowdfunding campaign to allow even small investors to join [our] VTOL company at an attractive valuation.”

Once completed, Zuri hopes to be a competitive, short haul, aerial commuting option capable of dominating any short point to point travel. WIth duration comparisons on their website between a 4-hour car and ferry ride from Phuket, Thailand, to the Phi Phi Islands against a 40-minute Zuri flight. Skipping the waits for lines, security checks, and loading of passengers for nearly any kind of mass transit will net similar reductions in nearly every other form of transportation.

Those interested in crowdfunding the project can follow the link to their Seedrs page to be notified when the campaign becomes active.
