National Association of Flight Instructors Summit Announced

More or Less…

Founded in 1967 by Ohio State University professor Jack Eggspuehlr, the National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI) is a United States professional organization for flight instructors.

The group dedicates itself to raising and maintaining the professional standing of the flight instructor in the aviation community.

To advance the flight instructing profession and promote professionalism in aviation education and training, NAFI will host an October 2022 summit dubbed Flight Instruction Excellence.

The event—the exact date and location of which have yet to be announced—will host current and prospective certified flight instructors, aviation leaders, industry advocates, government representatives, and media.

NAFI President Paul Preidecker remarks: “NAFI Summit will represent a significant extension of the work NAFI has done throughout our 55-year history to promote excellence in flight instruction through mentorship, education, and advocacy.”

The NAFI Summit will bring members of and stakeholders in the flight instruction community to share best practices, relevant business skills, instructional techniques, and networking opportunities.

The summit will also feature keynote speakers addressing the vital role of flight instructors, with an emphasis on continuous improvement in safety and customer service.

NAFI Chair Karen Kalishek states: “This is an exciting opportunity to highlight the important role of flight instructors in creating and maintaining a safe and growing pilot population during times of dramatic change. The upcoming summit actively supports NAFI’s vision of safer pilots through excellence in flight instruction.”

NAFI is governed by a board of directors composed of eleven members. The organization works with aerospace groups the likes of the FAA, AOPA, and EAA to ensure flight-training syllabi and conventions adhere to both federal aviation regulations and industry best-practices.

NAFI will provide regular updates as plans for its October summit are finalized.
