Keeps Students, Alumni, And Others Up To Date On Classes,
Campus Events, And More
The seemingly-ubiquitous iPhone and its cousins the iPad and
iPod Touch can now keep Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's
students, faculty, staff, and alumni up to date while they're on
the go.
ERAU Worldwide has launched a free app for the devices available
for download from the Apple iTunes Store. The official Embry-Riddle
Worldwide iPhone app, Worldwide Mobile, is the result of
collaboration between Story+Structure LLC and the Worldwide Campus
Marketing Department. It's developers say it's a mobile gateway to
the Embry-Riddle Worldwide Campus community of prospective and
current students, alumni, faculty, staff, and aviation and
aeronautics enthusiasts. It provides an opportunity to see what's
happening at the Worldwide Campus.
The key features include:
- News: Find up-to-date announcements, news stories, and
videos.
- Directory: Keep in contact with Worldwide community members,
faculty, and staff with the tap-to-call or email feature.
- Degree Programs: Explore which Embry-Riddle program is best for
you.
- Courses: View course descriptions for each program.
- Professional Education Courses: Learn about seminar and program
offerings.
- Resources: Browse the program and course catalog, as well as
other valuable information.
- My Worldwide: Use the GPS function to locate your nearest
Worldwide location.
"Social media is second nature to our current and prospective
students, and in today's society it is integrated into many
different aspects of our lives," said John R. Watret, Ph.D.,
executive vice president and chief academic officer at Embry-Riddle
Worldwide. "We have long recognized that academic quality and
innovation go hand-in-hand. With more than 170 locations, it was
imperative that Embry-Riddle Worldwide provide a convenient source
for our staff, students, and prospects to access Embry-Riddle
Worldwide information from anywhere in the world, at any time."
Several beta releases of the application served to measure
usability and software quality, culminating in a final public
release of Worldwide Mobile in the App Store in September.
"We believe the success of the project has been ensuring that
Worldwide is able to deliver fresh, accurate, and interesting
content on a platform that can accommodate growth in both capacity
and capability," said Michael Trachtman, the leading Embry-Riddle
Worldwide app developer from Story+Structure LLC. Possible future
plans for Worldwide Mobile includes growing the existing feature
set, development of a Blackberry and Android version, and evolving
the web-based community-networking platform.
