Sullenberger Nominated For Top ... Mustache

Is Sully The Top 'Mustached-American'?

The admittedly tongue-in-cheek American Mustache Institute has nominated Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger as one of the years top mustached-Americans.

With online balloting underway, Sully faces some fierce competition for the "Robert Goulet Memorial Mustached American of the Year" award for 2009, some who are better known than others.  The website says the contest is not about who has the best mustache, but rather which finalist is "the best contributor to the Mustached American way of life."

Others nominated run the gamut from soldiers serving in Iraq, Attorney General Eric Holder, television personality Bill Geist, and a man who rescued his elderly neighbor whom he found lying in the snow in freezing weather. Captain Sullenberger, as you know, successfully ditched his A320 in the Hudson River last January saving all 155 people on board.

Polls are open until Tuesday, October 20th.
