AD: Airbus Defense And Space S.A. Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2018-18-09

PRODUCT: All Airbus Defense and Space S.A. Model CN-235, CN-235-100, CN-235-200, and CN-235-300 airplanes; and certain Model C295 airplanes.

ACTION: Final Rule.

SUMMARY: This AD was prompted by a report that cracks were found on the stabilizer-to-fuselage rear attachment fitting.

This AD requires a detailed inspection of the upper and lower lugs of each horizontal stabilizer-to-fuselage rear attachment fitting, repair if necessary, and a report of findings.

DATES: This AD is effective October 10, 2018.

COST: The FAA estimates  that this AD affects 14 airplanes of U.S. registry. The cost of compliance is estimated as follows:

  • Inspection - 8 work-hours × $85 per hour = $680 per airplane.
  • Reporting - 1 work-hour × $85 per hour = $85 per airplane.

On-Condition Costs

  • Repair - 15 work-hours × $85 per hour = $1,275 per airplane.
