Aviation Charity Has Mission Of Poverty Reduction
MTBC today announced the donation of one of its corporate
airplanes to Wings of Hope. The organization is the oldest and
largest volunteer, humanitarian aviation charity in the world.
MTBC’s donation of its twin-engine Aero Commander will
assist Wings of Hope in its mission to help the impoverished
populations of 42 countries achieve self-sufficiency and
sustainable development.
In discussing the donation of the airplane, MTBC pilot Kim Kopp
explained “Aero Commanders were originally designed as
utility and transport aircraft. They are exceptionally resilient
and strong airplanes with a long history of military and civilian
service. We know that this airplane can help Wings of Hope expand
its reach and continue its mission.”
Doug J. Clements, president of Wings of Hope, said,
“MTBC’s donation of its Aero Commander is a wonderful
and benevolent act.”
MTBC chose Wings of Hope for its long history of exceptional
service to the impoverished. “With over 150 bases around the
world and the support of such luminaries as Chuck Yeager, General
Colin Powell, and former Senator Elizabeth Dole, we knew that our
Aero Commander would be in good hands, providing a much needed
service,” said Kopp.
Founded in 1962, Wings of Hope is a recognized international
resource specializing in implementing Poverty Reduction Strategies
for a defined region. Wings of Hope provides medical care,
education, and hands-on guidance for sustainable projects at over
152 bases in 42 countries—assisting over 1,000,000 poor
people each year. Wings of Hope is a winner of the United
Nations’ Humanitarian Award, the Papal Humanitarian Award,
and the Lindbergh Medal for Humanitarian Service, among others.
