Event Planned For February 28th In Leesburg, FL
Wipaire is planning a grand opening of their new service center in Leesburg, FL on February 28th.
The event will include a safety seminar (FAA Wings credit available). The company's Boss 182 and a Grand Caravan EX will be on display; a continental breakfast and lunch will be served. There will also be door prizes including a GoPro Hero 4, custom Lake and Air seaplane jacket, $100 Lake and Air pilot shop gift certificate, and three gift bags with limited-edition 55th anniversary items from Wipaire. Fly-in or drive-in guests welcome.
Among the speakers at the event will be Brian Addis, Senior Flight Instructor with Lake & Air, and a recognized seaplane training expert. He will be speaking on the unique nature of seaplane operations and seaplane task management. This seminar will explore the difference between seaplanes and how seaplane operations are different from landplanes in operation and philosophy, as well as correlating an understanding of these differences to improved landplane pilot skills.
Also on the program is executive director of the Seaplane Pilots Association, who will speak on emergency safety gear at 12:30. "Don't Leave Home Without It" is a hands-on safety gear workshop to show pilots of both landplanes and floatplanes how to build a flying emergency kit. And Rock Rockcastle, an ATP and active simulator instructor based in Florida. His presentation, "Safe Flight," will cover items such as proper preflight procedures, spins, performance charts, and emergency operations. Rock's seminar is eligible for Wings credit and will begin at 1:55 pm.
Based at the Leesburg International Airport (KLEE) since February 2013, Wipaire's service center has expanded into a new, larger hangar. "Our new 10,000 square foot hangar more than doubles our facility footprint and provides us much-needed room to accommodate the entire range of aircraft that Wipaire manufactures Wipline floats for. This means we can work on aircraft ranging in size from the Aviat Husky all the way up to the Twin Otter," stated Chuck Wiplinger, President and COO.
"Florida has welcomed Wipaire with open arms," added Lee Webb, Vice President of Aircraft Services – Florida. "We're excited to host visitors at this event and better get to know our southern neighbors."
