Large Format OLED IFE Displays by Rosen Aviation Coming In 2021

The 48", 55" And 65" Offerings Will Be The First Production Ready Products

Rosen Aviation tells ANN that new large format OLEDs are coming in 2021, to a cabin near you. Sizes range from 48" to 65", and there is potential for even larger sizes as development progresses and availability increases.

Citing a recent formal partnership with J-OLED (Japan-OLED), Lee Clark, Senior VP of Strategy at Rosen had this to say: "The availability of large OLED displays creates endless opportunities for Rosen and it's valuable customers. With a complete size range, we are no longer forced to pick and choose based on customer requirements. Now we can offer a complete OLED solution for any application, saving our customers space and weight, while simultaneously offering their end-users the best picture imaginable."

As part of Rosen's complete range of OLED sizes, the 48", 55" and 65" offerings will be the first production ready products in their respective categories when they become available in 2021.

Despite larger dimensions, OLEDs weigh in at as little as 50% of comparable LCD displays, making a 65" OLED similar in weight to that of a 32" LCD. Lighter displays aim to significantly increase efficiency and offer new, dynamic applications for business aviation, commercial and V/VIP aircraft.

Benefiting the passenger experience, the picture quality generated by large format 4K/8K OLEDs will be significantly superior to that of LCDs, boasting contrast ratios of 1,000,000:1, HDR 500 True Black and WCG.
