“There I was, after I completed the hammerhead turn I pulled a couple of snap rolls on the way down just for the fun of it. By the way, I’m a sport pilot.” If this sounds implausible, you need to watch this video.
At the U.S. Sport Aviation Expo 2014, ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell took a look at the new Renegade Lil Rascal LSA. If you think it looks like a Pitts Special, you’re on the right track. Doc Bailey, the Owner and CEO of Renegade Light Sport, explains that this light sport aircraft can trace its heritage back to the earlier model of Pitts. However, changes have been made to keep it sport pilot eligible and sport pilot safe.
As the Renegade LSA design matures, Bailey is looking beyond simply producing a light sport aircraft for sport pilots were looking for action. He foresees a day when sport pilots could be competing in aerobatic competitions and “Red Bull” type racing.
Campbell (an acro pilot himself) discusses details of the Renegade LSA project with Bailey. Watch the video and you’ll see that this hot rod aimed at the sport pilot could be a good choice for anyone who just wants some fun.
