Atec 212 Solo Makes First U.S. Appearance at MVN Expo

First U.S. Flight Awaiting the FAA Green-Light

The Atec 212 Solo made its debut with the U.S. market at the 2024 Midwest Aviation Expo. It garnered significant interest from attendees, with the first U.S. model less than a month away from its Designated Airworthiness Representative (DAR) inspection. Manufactured in the Czech Republic, the Solo is a single-seater, cantilever low-wing aircraft.

Sam Bousfield, Founder and CEO of Samson Sky, discussing the state of development of the Switchblade. Sam explained that trial and error is typical of the R&D process. Design is based on prediction, and computational fluid dynamics gets you within about 10%, wind tunnel testing gets you to about 3%, and the rest you learn in testing, which is what they’ve done with the initial prototype.
