Two Of These Birds Lost On Christmas After Being Shot Down

In an attempt to find cost-effective answers to military problems, Ukraine has refitted a number of Aeroprakt A-22 LSA designs (Shown below, in civilian configuration) to serve as UAVs... but the last week has not been kind to them. On Christmas, a modified Aeroprakt A-22 Foxbat light sport aircraft was shot down by Russian air-defence forces in Grozny, Republic of Chechnya.

VMFA-314 Returns To Home Base After Combat Deployment

VMFA-314 Deployed With Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 9, July 11, 2024

The “Black Knights” of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 314 returned to their home base with the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar following a five-month deployment with Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 3 to the U.S. 7th and 5th Fleet areas of operation, Dec. 14, 2024. Following completion of a four-week composite training unit exercise (COMPTUEX), VMFA-314 deployed with Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 9, July 11, 2024, and embarked aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72).

USAF Aeromedical Branch Approves SPYDR Device

Currently, SPYDR Has Been Issued A “Safe To Fly” For Use On Several Aircraft

After an extensive test and evaluation process, the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s Aeromedical Systems Branch has officially certified that SPYDR is safe for use on select aircraft. SPYDR, by Spotlight Labs, are small earcups with an integrated blood oxygen and heart rate sensor, which rest on an artery underneath the ear, to allow for real-time monitoring and alerting of impending physiological events.
