Drone Operator Violations Draw Big FAA Fines

Twenty-seven People Receive Notices Of Civil Penalties

The FAA has issued a total of $341,413 in fines to 27 people who violated regulations governing drone operations. Notifications of the fines were sent between October 2022 and June 2024. The hazards of flying drones unsafely or in an unauthorized manner have been identified and specified in detail in the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) Part 107. Knowledge of the Part 107 regs is required and are included in the test for the Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.

Aviation Maintenance Training Facility To Break Ground In October

Pierpont’s New A&P School Awaiting Final Details

Pierpont Community & Technical College in Fairmont, West Virginia, is planning to break ground on its new school to train aircraft airframe and powerplant maintenance technicians. A year ago, the school’s Aviation Maintenance Technology program received a $25 million supplemental appropriation during a special session of the state legislature to build the facility. The training facility will be built on the North Central West Virginia Airport (KCKB) in Clarksburg, about 12 miles south of the school.
