NTSB Prelim: Schweizer 269C-1

(Pilot) Flew About 1 Mile When He Heard A “Pop” And The Engine RPM Decreased

On February 28, 2025, about 1800 central standard time, a Schweizer 269C-1 helicopter was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Alvord, Texas. The pilot was not injured. The helicopter was operated as a Title 14 Code of  Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 91 personal flight. The pilot reported that he took off in the helicopter from his residence and flew about 1 mile when he heard a “pop” and the engine rpm decreased.
