Goodyear Blimp Gondola Heads For Smithsonian

Car C-49 Served Military, Civilian Missions For 50+ Years

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company is donating the Goodyear blimp gondola, or car C-49, to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. C-49 car is going to the Smithsonian on the heels of last year's donation of a lifeboat used on the 1911 airship, Vaniman's Akron, which utilized Goodyear's first airship envelope.

FAA Announces National Capital Area Airspace Rules Changes

New Procedures Take Effect November 30th

The FAA has codified special flight rules and flight restrictions for certain aircraft operations in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area. A NOTAM scheduled to go into effect on November 30th makes changes in rules that went into effect on February 17th, 2009.
