The final space shuttle landing July 21 opened new prospects for
eligible education institutions, museums and other organizations to
receive a piece of spaceflight history. The eighth batch of
artifacts from NASA's space programs became available
Monday on a website that NASA and the General Services
Administration (GSA) developed.

NASA has selected XCOR Aerospace to provide suborbital flight
and payload integration services for research and scientific
missions in a program that will offer up to $10 million dollars in
contracts to match payload customers with flight vehicle services.
The awards were announced by NASA's Flight Opportunities
Program.
Money To Fund Youth Presentation For Earth Summit (Rio+20)
Chabot Space & Science Center's innovative youth volunteer
outreach program, Galaxy Explorers, has been chosen by the
Association of Science & Technology Centers ("ASTC") as one of
ten science centers worldwide to participate in SCEnaRioS: Science
Centers Engagement and the Rio Summit. The program is collaboration
between ASTC, UNESCO and the Foundation FIOCRUZ, intended to engage
young people around the world in a discussion around major topics
central to the deliberations at the United Nations Conference on
Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro this June.
NASA has announced a launch date of November 30, 2011 for the
next Falcon 9 mission, which should be followed nine days later by
Dragon berthing at the ISS. Over the last several months, SpaceX
has been preparing for the upcoming flight – a mission
designed to demonstrate that a privately-developed space
transportation system can deliver cargo to and from the
International Space Station (ISS).
