Got the word last night that AOPA's Mark Baker wanted to brief me on an announcement at 0830 (ET) this morning and was hoping for some good news... maybe a breakthrough on the Third-Class medical logjam or the like.
I had high hopes...
I should have known better.
Instrad of the good news I'd hoped for, Baker wanted to explain a recent decision whereby AOPA will be increasing its dues and adding multiple layers of service/structure to their membership hierarchy.

Resolution Adopted Unanimously At The Organization's Annual Meeting
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) 70th Annual General Meeting (AGM) unanimously adopted a resolution that calls on governments and industry to work together on a balanced package of measures to effectively deter and manage the significant problem of unruly air passenger behavior. Such behavior includes committing physical assault, disturbing good order on board or failing to follow lawful crew instructions.
STEM Education Experiences On Display With Product Demonstrations
Boeing recently coordinated with CareerSource South Florida to host 70 students from Miami high schools at the Boeing Flight Services Miami campus for an interactive day of learning about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), and careers in aerospace. In an incident reminiscent of the Cold War, a Russian Su-27 fighter reportedly flew within 100 feet of an Air Force RC-135 surveillance aircraft over international waters north of Japan in April, but the incident was not made public for more than a month.

Aircraft Competed At Prague Customization Facility
Two commercially registered Bell 429 aircraft have been delivered in Turkey by Bell Helicopter's facility in Prague, Czech Republic. The aircraft were delivered to Saran Aviation and were highly customized in a Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) configuration. The customization also included a TCAS system, full cabin audio communication system, marker beacon, maritime communication radio, loud hailer, moving map and an upgraded GPS system.
