The FAA has released an updated set of advisory circulars to support the transition to the long-awaited MOSAIC rule, offering new direction for pilots, instructors, and light-sport repairmen. The documents, published November 14, aim to align long-standing guidance with the performance-based system that will replace the outdated light-sport framework when MOSAIC takes effect in 2026. The Australian Transportation Safety Bureau (ATSB) has wrapped up its investigation into a recent skydiving incident, revealing that one of the jumpers was left hanging 15,000’ AGL from the aircraft’s horizontal stabilizer due to an inadvertent deployment of his reserve parachute. He was able to cut himself free and pull his primary chute. Cooper Aircraft Corporation has expanded support for Rotax installations with a new mount for naturally aspirated engines. The new mounts cover the Highwing, Legacy, B Model, Onex, Sonex, Waiex, and Xenos. The mounts are delivered in white, and will mount up the Rotax 912UL, 912ULS, 912iS, 914UL, 915iS and 916iS. While at EAA AirVenture 2015, ANN ventured out to visit the warbirds and was attracted to a large four engine aircraft that is a variation of the World War II Consolidated B-24. It turns out to be the world’s only flyable PB4Y-2, Privateer, which is a U.S. Navy version of the B-24.

Pilot-Rated Passenger Reported That The Pilot Did Not Adequately “Round Out” The Landing Flare And The Airplane Bounced And Yawed To The Right

Analysis: The pilot stated he was on a stabilized approach to land and that when he believed he had the appropriate sight picture, he reduced engine power and flared the airplane. The airplane then bounced and he attempted to recover the landing, but it bounced a second time and veered left of the runway centerline. The pilot aborted the landing and increased engine power, but the airplane veered further left. The pilot then reduced engine power and the airplane came to rest in bushes adjacent to the runway.
