Aero-TV: Maintaining Prominence -- New Quicksilver SLSA Retains Iconic Status

Looking Over The ASTM/FAA Approved Quicksilver Sport 2S

While at Sun ‘n Fun 2014 ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell took the opportunity to talk with Gene ‘Beaver’ Borne, a dealer for Quicksilver Aircraft.

Pilots love to hang out with other pilots, but when we’re talking about Quicksilver Aircraft the term hanging out is not a metaphor…in a Quicksilver that’s exactly what you do.

The Quicksilver Company has been around since the early days of hang gliders and ultralights, and they are still going strong. Borne says the reason for this is because they have upgraded an original design that got it right from the start. They have now moved into the light sport market with the Quicksilver Sport S2. While the plan-form of the airplane is similar to earlier Quicksilver’s, customers have requested a strut braced wing rather than king-post wire bracing and they also wanted a wider A-frame for the seats. Quicksilver answered with the Sport S2.

The Sport S2 is available in kit form or as a completely built S-LSA. The dealer set up with Quicksilver is unique because certain dealers are designated as build centers. These dealers will build up a factory ready S-LSAs or assist the builder in assembling their own E-LSA. This video provides good information on the performance of the aircraft and gives you insight as to the quality of this little sport plane.
