Diamond Delivers DA62 MPP To Hungarian Defense Ministry

Aircraft Will Strengthen Country’s Defense, Geospatial Intel Ops

Diamond Aircraft announced the successful delivery of a DA42 Multi-Purpose Platform, or MPP, to HM Zrínyi Nonprofit Kft, a company under the Hungarian Ministry of Defense that is responsible for providing public relations and communications to the Ministry and Hungarian Defense Forces.

HM Zrínyi Nonprofit Kft also manages national data and production of mapping materials.

The official handoff was held at the Liszt Ference International Airport (IATA: BUD, ICAO: LHBP) in the Hungarian capital of Budapest. The ceremony was attended by senior representatives of the Hungarian Ministry of Defense including Dr. Janos Czermann, Deputy State Secretary for Human Resources, and Lieutenant General Ferenc Kajari, Deputy Chief of Defense Staff.

The DA42 MPP will provide aerial imaging and geospatial data collection capabilities with its advanced remote sensing technology from Vexcel and Riegl. The high-res digital cameras and laser scanners will enable the generation of detailed orthophotos, 3D urban mapping, and digital terrain models.

“With the DA62 MPP, we are entering a new era of aerial reconnaissance,” said Dr. Czermann. “This aircraft will serve as a cornerstone for the Hungarian Defense Forces’ simulation, command and control systems, and will support a wide range of defense-related data needs. It is a vital asset for national security.”

Gabor Kulcsar, CEO of HM Zrínyi Nonprofit Kft added, “This is a transformative capability. For the first time since 1977, Hungarian military cartography is being equipped with a new aerial platform. The DA62 MPP will simplify the production of high-resolution digital terrain and surface models, enabling our teams to work more efficiently and effectively.”
