Idaho Proposes Aviation License Plate

Car Tag Would Promote GA

A state legislator in Idaho has proposed a specialty license plate that would benefit the Idaho Aviation Foundation.

Idaho Backcountry Airstrip

Republican Joe Palmer proposed the specialty plate, which would feature the slogan "Fly Idaho." The Spokane, WA Spokesman Review reports that "Pilot's Paradise" is also being considered.

Palmer is a pilot, and says the foundation assists in opening up Idaho's backcountry airstrips. The often-unimproved landing sites in many cases provide the only access to much of the state's wilderness for those unable to hike in or ride on horseback. Palmer said that the plate could help open those areas to disabled veterans who could not reach them any other way.

Idaho currently has 75 specialty plates available for drivers to purchase.
