Aerobatic pilot and former US Serviceman Aaron Fitzgerald chose the open space of the Hudson River in New York to stun onlookers with a wide range of precision helicopter maneuvers.

According to Red Bull, Fitzgerald performed the loops, barrel rolls and dives in front of the Statue of Liberty, Battery Park and alongside the West Side Highway. The pilot chose the unique practice course in preparation for the Memorial Day Weekend’s Bethpage Air Show. The Red Bull helicopter is able to perform the maneuvers through the use of a unique rigid titanium rotor. It allows Fitzgerald to reverse the airflow through the rotor without damage, ensuring he can safely execute the maneuvers. NASA has selected 11 companies to conduct studies and produce prototypes of human landers for its Artemis lunar exploration program. This effort will help put American astronauts — the first woman and next man — on the Moon’s south pole by 2024 and establish sustainable missions by 2028. NASA’s proposed plan is to transport astronauts in a human landing system that includes a transfer element for the journey from the lunar Gateway to low-lunar orbit, a descent element to carry
them to the surface, and an ascent element to return to them to the Gateway. The agency also is looking at refueling capabilities to make these systems reusable. EASA has certified the Daher TBM 940, enabling deliveries to begin. EASA’s certification paperwork will be formally provided this week during EBACE. The TBM 940’s airworthiness authority approval comes two months after the aircraft’s launch in March, with 25 orders already booked for the version. Initial deliveries will be to customers in Europe and Asia, followed by North America and other markets after subsequent certification by the FAA.
