Joby Aviation Says Means of Compliance Accepted

With another Phase Checked Off, eVTOL Manufacturer Moves Towards Certification

Joby Aviation has finished the 2nd of 5 outlined stages in its greater certification plans.

The progression inches their upcoming aircraft closer than ever to achieving commercial passenger use, but there's still a way to go. The firm hopes to reach the market by 2025 - if all goes well.

“Certification is an integral part of everything that an aerospace company does and with the achievement of this critical milestone, we’re now able to confidently focus our efforts on closing the remaining certification plans and completing the testing required to certify our aircraft”

Joby was quick to note they would appear to be the first company to reach the Means of Compliance stage in their certification process, having also beaten the competition to seeing their Certification Basis published in the Federal Register. The company saw 94% of their Means of Compliance accepted by the FAA, leaving enough room to continue necessary development later on as small adjustments arise throughout the design process.

“Certification is an integral part of everything that an aerospace company does and with the achievement of this critical milestone, we’re now able to confidently focus our efforts on closing the remaining certification plans and completing the testing required to certify our aircraft,” said Didier Papadopoulos, Head of Aircraft OEM at Joby.

“We’re grateful for the FAA’s dedication to the safe introduction of eVTOL technology and their commitment to supporting continued US leadership in this sector,” he added.
