Hilton Software Unveils Significantly Upgraded WingX 2.0

Upgrades SmartTaxi Runway Incursion Warning System, Adds Animated NEXRAD Images

Hilton Software LLC tipped ANN Wednesday to a significant upgrade to the company's flagship WingX 2.0 offering for the Pocket PC.

The company's patent-pending SmartTaxi technology has been upgraded and improved to display potentially life-saving warnings at practically all public US airports. In addition, WingX 2.0 now offers a comprehensive array of animated weather images including NEXRAD, precipitation, storm motion, and cloud bases. WingX is also now fully compatible and optimized for a wide range of Pocket PCs and Pocket PCs including Windows Mobile 5.0 and VGA devices.

"Both the FAA and the NTSB have been really focused on new in-cockpit technology to prevent runway incursions after the Comair 5191 accident," said Dr. Hilton Goldstein, company founder and CEO. "Thousands of WingX users already have this capability and with this latest upgrade, WingX's SmartTaxi™ technology will help prevent runway incursions at almost all public US airports."

"The weather-related accident rate is another target of ours and we have added animated and zoomable NEXRAD graphics, precipitation, and storm motion graphics to WingX," Dr. Goldstein adds. "Having weather graphics on a handheld Pocket PC or Pocket PC Phone Edition (perhaps with a VGA screen) is a huge step-up from our competitors who show their weather graphics on tiny cell phone screens. Our goal has always been, and will always be, to improve aviation safety through innovation, partnerships, and engineering excellence."

WingX 2.0 is Windows Mobile 5.0 and VGA-optimized, Internet and GPS-enabled and runs on Pocket PC and Pocket PC Phone Edition devices running Mobile 2003 and Microsoft Mobile 5.0 devices such as the Cingular 8525, Treo 700wx, and HP iPaq.

WingX 2.0 is available for download now at the company's website, available at the FMI link below, and can be purchased for $129.95.
