Fargo Mechanic Drops Appeal

FAA: "It's All Been Resolved"

The man who runs Fargo Aero Tech has dropped his appeal after the FAA, under an emergency order, revoked his A&P ticket. This, in the wake of a general aviation mishap blamed on improper maintenance.

"It's all been resolved," said the FAA's Bob Jensen, quoted by the Fargo Forum. "There's no more appeal. They accepted the action."

As ANN reported Monday, Emory Babolian's ticket was pulled after the February 26th mishap involving a Cessna 177RG. The plane made a forced landing after its pilot aborted climb-out from Fargo's Hector International Airport. NTSB investigators later found a leak around the oil filter. The gasket between the filter and its mount was folded in half, creating something much less than a perfect seal.

Aero Tech's Part 145 ticket had been pulled last year after FAA investigators found the company had been negligent in maintaining a helicopter that later suffered a transmission link failure. Babolian was cited for pencil-whipping the helo's maintenance records to falsify the date of  its annual inspection.
