YAK-52 Aerobatic Team Perseveres

Ukraine War Impacts FAI World Intermediate Aerobatic Championship

Owing to an insufficient number of entries in the FAI World YAK-52 Aerobatic Championship, event organizers have invited YAK-52 entrants to compete in the 3rd FAI World Intermediate Aerobatic Championship—which is being held contemporaneously.

The USA YAK-52 team has accepted the invitation and will compete in the Intermediate championship, to be held in Torun, Poland from 04 June through 11 June 2022.

The FAI attributes this year’s dearth of competitors to the ongoing war in Ukraine, which borders Poland to the east. Organizers report the conflict’s impact is evident not only in diminished attendance, but in the skyrocketing costs of fuel, food, accommodations, and transportation.

USA YAK-52 registered competitors Pawel Miko, Ross Ferguson, and Marian Harris secured some degree of sponsorship from NFlightcam.com, witch has agreed to match any funds donated to the team. Parties wishing to make donations are encouraged to visit the team’s Facebook page: USA Yak 52 Aerobatic Team, or visit its website at: yak52wiac2022.eu/.

Donations levels are listed below, but the team is sincerely appreciative of contributions in any amount.

Donation Levels

  • $5000: Help to cover the cost of world-class coaching at training camp before the championship.
  • $2500: Helps sponsor the team's entry fees at WAYAK 2022.
  • $1000: Helps sponsor the team's airfare to Torun, Poland.
  • $500:   Helps cover the cost of fuel and checkouts in overseas aircraft.
  • $100:   Helps cover daily living expenses while in Torun.

Note: The International Aerobatic Club is responsible for facilitating US Aerobatic Teams competing at World Championships.

International amateur sporting events fall under the IAC 501(c)(3) organization to which donations are deductible under the Internal Revenue Code.

Persons interested in NFlight’s line of engineered camera-mounts and headsets will receive a 10% discount—and help the Yak team—by using the discount code USAYAK52 when they make their purchases.
