JetBlue Schedules All-Female Crew For Monday Flight

Flies 100 Influential Women From New York To San Francisco

An all-female JetBlue crew was formed for a flight Monday from New York to San Francisco for what was described as a 36-hour “pop-up event" put on by Marie Claire magazine.

USA Today reports that JetBlue carried the 100 guests invited by the magazine on an A321 between the two cities Monday for the event, which included informal and organized networking opportunities.

The Airbus was flown by Captain Pia Kymalainen and First Officer Anna-Maria Kymalainen ... sisters who grew up in an aviation-minded family in Finland. The flight attendants were also reportedly all women.

All-female crews are not nearly as rare as they used to be, but it was a first for JetBlue, and included ground crews at both airports as well as the airport operating team, according to the airline.

“We are excited to disrupt the traditional idea of networking,” Joanna Geraghty, Executive Vice President, Customer Experience, JetBlue, told USA Today. “What better place to bond than at 30,000 feet with our award-winning onboard experience as the backdrop?”
