Emirates Orders 65 Additional Boeing 777-9 Airliners

Momentum Continues For Manufacturer At Dubai Airshow

Boeing announced during a signing ceremony at the Dubai Airshow 2025 that Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, placed its third order for 777X airplanes to bolster its future expansion plans and meet the growing demand for air travel. With 270 now on order, Emirates is the largest customer for the 777X line with a mix of 777-9 and 777-8 models.

Emirates has grown its global network with the Boeing 777 and is a launch customer for the new 777X family, having previously placed two orders for a total of 205 aircraft. The 777-9 will be the world’s largest twin-engine airliner and is positioned to set new standards for efficiency and passenger experience by leveraging the successes of the 777.

The 777-9 reduces fuel consumption and emissions by 20% compared to the aircraft it will replace. Its cabin is wider and more spacious, with improved humidity and more natural light. Multiple airlines globally have chosen the 777X and its design for their high-capacity, long-range routes and for those in challenging environments.

HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group said, "Emirates is already the world's largest Boeing 777 operator, and we are expanding our commitment to the program today with additional orders for 65 Boeing 777-9s. This is a long-term commitment to our partnership with Boeing and to U.S. aerospace. Each of our aircraft on order have been carefully factored into Emirates' growth plan, which is aligned to Dubai's growth plans."

Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes said, "We are deeply honored that Emirates has once again selected the Boeing 777X to power its future as the airline refreshes its world-class fleet and expands its vaunted global network. Boeing has been a proud supporter of Emirates over the past 40 years as the airline has grown into one of the world's leading carriers and developed a reputation for excellence and innovation. We look forward to growing our partnership and for Emirates to fly Boeing airplanes for decades to come."
