Jeppesen Tapped By Gulf Air To Provide FliteDeck Pro On iPad

New EFB Service Contract Transitions Airline Navigation Data, Documents To The iOS Device

Jeppesen recently signed a new three-year service contract with Gulf Air, the Kingdom of Bahrain's national carrier, to provide the airline with Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro electronic flight bag (EFB) services on iPad.  The agreement allows Gulf Air to continue its digital transformation by eliminating paper-based flight information on the ground and in the air.

"Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro provides all essential flight information and operations materials on iPad, which allows our crew to complete essential preparation tasks where convenient and increases situational awareness in flight," said Captain Nasser AlSalmi, Gulf Air Chief Operating Officer.  "We look forward to going completely paperless in our operations and FliteDeck Pro will allow us to reach this goal."

The new service agreement continues a long-standing customer relationship, which includes tailored Jeppesen digital navigation information for the airline.  Jeppesen's mobile EFB solutions help airlines operate more efficiently through real time, data-driven information presented on screen that is displayed per pilot preference.  The reduction of paper-based flight information also reduces weight in the cockpit and leads to significant annual fuel savings.

"The paper to digital transformation of essential flight information is a key component for operator success in today's competitive airline business environment," said Tim Huegel, director, Jeppesen Aviation Portfolio Management.  "We congratulate Gulf Air on their digital transition process with FliteDeck Pro, a solution that will reduce pilot workload, streamline operations and reduce fuel consumption for the airline."
