U.K. MoD Awards Low Visibility Landing System Contract

AgustaWestland Will Assess 3D-CS Technology

The UK MOD has announced its intention to award AgustaWestland Limited a single-source contract for the assessment and risk reduction activity of a Helicopter-integrated 3D Conformal Symbology (3D CS) system to mitigate the risk to helicopter operations due to low visibility landings (LVL) in degraded visual environments (DVE).

AgustaWestland will undertake a competitive procurement activity to select a 3D CS solution, which meets the defined requirements. Organizations interested in being considered for a sub-contractor role in this program should submit their Expression of Interest (EoI) to AgustaWestland by 17th July 2015.

AgustaWestland will issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) shortly after the closure date for the EoI. The RFP will provide all the information required to enable potential bidders to prepare their proposals which are to be delivered to AgustaWestland early in Q4 2015. Included in the RFP will be a number of mandatory requirements, that all potential suppliers shall be required to meet. All potential bidders will be required to meet with AgustaWestland early in the RFP process to enable the company to ensure their compliance with the mandatory requirements and to allow bidders to decide whether to proceed with their proposal.
