Oklahoma Area Flight College Expands Fleet

Southeastern Aviation Adds Additional Seminoles for Airline Training

Southeastern Oklahoma State University hosted 154 local students from Oklahoma and Texas for their Aviation Sciences Institute's open house to promote awareness of careers in aviation and drum up future business.

Along with the interest, the institute will soon receive an expansion to their fleet to enable faster training for larger student classes.

Oklahoma has seen some measure of expansion in local flight training operations, building on the region's name as a go-to aviation hub for students looking for plenty of class E and D airspace. The school's addition of 2 more new production PA44 Piper Seminoles will go towards training students in their multiengine crew phase while skill building for eventual airline services.

Southeastern boasts one of the few Flightdeck Solutions 737 MAX FTDs in the area, allowing students to move onwards and upwards from the piston-engined Seminole to a (virtual) jet environment. It's expected to enter service with the school next May, with full functionality by June. The boost in aviation program development is not unique to the school - many in the know see dark clouds on the horizon for human resources departments throughout the airline industry. Expanding classes and creating new professional pilots is perfectly timed in order to produce the replacements needed for the considerable number of retirees expected to open vacancies in airliners around the world. To that end, Southeastern has joined multiple professional pilot pipelines including Southwest, Envoy, and Delta Airlines, and it would be fully expected for additions to be made as soon as possible to allow a streamlined, continuous career path for students at the college.
