FAA Questions Man Who Flew A UAV Over Panthers-Chiefs NFL Game

Bank Of America Stadium Is Near Charlotte Douglas Airport

A man who flew a camera-equipped UAV over the Panthers-Chiefs game at Bank of America Stadium has been questioned by both local authorities and the FAA.

Television Station WSOC reports that the incident occurred during the August 17th contest at the stadium. There was no indication that the UAV operator had any malicious intent for the flight.

Charlotte police turned the investigation over to the FAA, which said in a statement that it was "investigating a report it received from local law enforcement about an unmanned aircraft operating over Bank of America Stadium during an NFL game on Aug. 17.”

The FAA told the television station that the stadium's proximity to the airport puts it in Class-B airspace where UAV flights are prohibited.
